Embracing New Commercial Ways of Working
The Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) has been a government run institution and needed to adapt to the dynamic and changing world. Tricia with her Team of Management Consultants developed a creative and unique skills development programme which enable KMD staff to change their way of thinking and embrace the new commercial ways of working.
As a result of this training the KMD, for the first time, was able to sell its services to commercial organisations and enable them to develop their businesses based upon accurate and detailed climate information. One of the most outstanding achievements was enabling the flower growers in the Rift Valley to export their products to UK supermarkets.
As a result of the success of this development programme the Department started training staff in management skills. I was the first to benefit as Tricia identified my potential and recommended that I be trained for an MBA which I have since completed. The concept was well received and today management training is on-going and we are championing change within the KMD.
The Government of Kenya are indebted to Tricia and her Team for the lead they took in staff development which marked the start of a new beginning for KMD which is a vital department of the Kenya economy.
